Film for Good: Community Involvement
All of us involved in Team Film feel very strongly about giving back. We recognize how fortunate and supported we are in our own lives, and want to offer that support to others.
Peace Love Film
The first fundraising event Team Film developed was Princesses for Peace back in 2011 (currently now Peace Love Film), which benefits a different nonprofit or program each year. This run/walk is a way we combine our love for running with doing our part in making the world a better place through supporting women and education. The annual event is focused on fun and family, and we encourage everyone to dress up or as their favorite princess or prince. Along with the opportunity to walk or run, we have all kinds of prizes for costumes, spirit and creativity. Good food, drink, and friendship make this event a great day for everyone! Each of the four events has raised between $1,500 and $3,000. Team Film’s Peace Love Film 4K is set for October 25, 2015 and we are excited to announce the Megan S. Ott Foundation as the recipient of proceeds raised at this event.
Through Peace Love Film, we have supported the following organizations:
Center of Wellness for Urban Women Inc., located in Indianapolis, empowers women and their families to become proactive in their health by improving the mind, body and spirit through education, advocacy, care and prevention. They believe in empowering women to learn to maintain the seven dimensions of wellness (physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, social and intellectual) through various interventions and programs including both traditional and alternative therapies, nutrition, counseling, walking programs and more.
Central Asia Institute empowers communities of Central Asia through literacy and education, especially for girls, promotes peace through education, and conveys the importance of these activities globally.
The recovery high school at Fairbanks, Hope Academy is a tuition-free, charter high school that provides educational excellence and an achievement-oriented curriculum with the promotion of sobriety and personal growth. Hope Academy is designed to provide a supportive community for students who want to maintain their sobriety throughout their lifetime.
In honor of one of our own princesses, we supported the Butler University Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships to minority students seeking a degree in education.
The Megan S. Ott Foundation provides immediate personalized assistance to local recipients fighting the day to day battle of breast cancer.

Queen of Hearts
On November 23, 2013, Team Film put on the Queen of Hearts fundraiser for our friend, Team Film Co-Founder and fellow runner Maria Harper. In August 2013, Maria suffered a cardiac arrest at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. The fundraiser, held at Ritchey Woods in Fishers, Ind., helped raise over $3,000 to pay for Maria’s medical expenses.
Friends, family, neighbors and community members came out to support and celebrate Maria’s full recovery by enjoying the trails of Ritchey Woods, a roaring fire, prizes, and some tasty treats. Maria’s financial burden, incurred from weeks in the ICU, was eased greatly by the support of everyone involved. Maria is grateful for her second chance to get back to family, friends, running and life’s adventures!
Team Film continues to expand its outreach and community efforts to support women, education and wellbeing. If you have an idea about partnering with us or would like more information, please contact us.
On March 1, 2015, Team Film members participated in the 2015 #spin4heroes to raise $500 for Heroes Foundation. Their mission is to serve the cancer community through support, education, and awareness programs, as well as through medical and scientific research. heroesfoundation.org. We truly believe that cancer sucks and that Cyclists are awesome!
We use these trails so why not help put back funds in maintaining and repairing them? On July 30, Team Film and Carmel Upland Tap House will host a Tap for Trails Brew Mile with proceeds from the event benefiting HMBA (Hoosier Mountain Bike Association).
